German Language

For German-taught programmes, the general requirement is DSH-2 or an accepted equivalent: TestDaF level 4 in all four skill areas (or higher), Goethe-Zertifikat C2, Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD) level II (C1 in all subsections), telc C1 Hochschule with grade 'befriedigend' or 'gut', or UNIcert level III or higher. Medicine and Dentistry require the higher DSH-3 level (TestDaF level 5 in all sections, Goethe-Zertifikat C2 with a minimum total score of 82%, telc C1 Hochschule 'sehr gut'). Physics, Geophysics, the B.Sc. in Mathematics, and some music courses require only the lower DSH-1 level (TestDaF level 3 in all sections, telc C1 Hochschule 'ausreichend'). Exemption from the DSH exam is possible with proof of at least three years of intensive German instruction with passing grades, or a Master's degree in German Studies. German proficiency is not required for English-taught degree programmes.
