Admissions & fees

What it costs

THA charges no tuition fees for its standard bachelor's and consecutive master's programmes. A semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) is charged each semester; the exact amount is set per semester and covers administrative costs and student services. Note: Bavaria introduced a non-EU student fee from Winter Semester 2025/26 - prospective students should verify the current fee amount directly with THA's student office before enrolling.

Admission requirements

International applicants must hold a university-entrance qualification recognised in Germany (anabin H+ or equivalent). Applicants from India, China, and Vietnam are required to obtain an APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) certificate before applying. For German-taught programmes, a German language certificate at minimum B2 level (TestDaF, DSH, Goethe, or equivalent) is required; individual programmes may require C1. For the small number of English-taught programmes, an IELTS or equivalent English proficiency certificate is required - check individual programme pages for the exact band score. Applications are submitted via the university's applicant portal (HISinOne). Degree recognition is handled on a case-by-case basis for institutions without H+ anabin status.

Application deadlines

Winter semester (October start): 30 April - 15 July for most bachelor's programmes; 30 April - 30 June for most master's programmes (some master's close 15 April). Summer semester (April start): 15 November - 15 January for bachelor's; 15 November - 15 December for master's. Deadlines vary by programme type and admission restriction status - confirm on the official application page.

How international applicants apply

Used (assessment). For international bachelor applicants uni-assist checks the higher education entrance qualification (about 6 weeks processing); the uni-assist notice states whether the applicant can apply directly or must first attend a Studienkolleg, and it is required for the application to TH Augsburg. Orientation via anabin/DAAD.

Languages of instruction

The large majority of the 75+ programmes are taught in German. A small number of programmes are offered bilingually (English/German), including: Digital Design and Production (BEng), Electrical Engineering (MEng), Environmental and Process Engineering (MEng), Industrial Safety and Security (MSc), and Interactive Media Systems (MA). The Center for Languages and Intercultural Communication (ZSI) provides German-as-a-foreign-language courses and preparation for TestDaF and DAAD language certificates.

Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
