Admissions & costs

Tuition & fees

TH Rosenheim is a public Bavarian university. EU/EEA students pay no tuition fees; the only charge is a semester contribution of €97 to the student services organisation (Studierendenwerk). Non-EU international students (Drittstaaten) are subject to a tuition fee of €500 per enrolled semester, applicable from Summer Semester 2026 onward (i.e., for students enrolling from Winter Semester 2025/26). This is significantly lower than the Baden-Württemberg non-EU fee of €1,500/semester.

Admission requirements

International applicants apply through uni-assist. For winter semester, the uni-assist application window for international students opens from mid-February; for summer semester, from September. Final deadlines broadly align with 15 April – 15 July (winter) and 1 November – 15 January (summer), though individual programme deadlines vary — for example, the Advanced Industrial Engineering master has a narrow April 15–30 window. Entry qualification requirements follow standard German FH rules: a recognised school-leaving certificate equivalent to the German Hochschulreife, or a completed foreign bachelor's degree for master's programmes. Indian applicants whose prior qualification originates in India must hold a valid APS certificate (issued by the German Embassy in New Delhi) before applying; this is a national requirement for all German universities, not TH Rosenheim-specific. Chinese and Vietnamese applicants are also subject to the APS requirement. Language requirements vary by programme: German-taught programmes generally require at least B2 German (TestDaF, DSH, or equivalent); English-taught programmes require evidence of English proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent). Students should verify the exact requirement on the individual programme page.

Application deadlines

Winter Semester (October start): international applicants via uni-assist from approximately 15 February; general deadline 15 July. Summer Semester (March/April start): international applicants via uni-assist from approximately 1 September; general deadline 15 January. Individual programmes may have earlier or narrower windows — verify per programme on the TH Rosenheim admissions page.

Languages of instruction

The majority of programmes are taught in German. TH Rosenheim offers 11 English-taught degree programmes (6 bachelor's, 5 master's) across business and STEM disciplines. Prospective international students should check the English-taught programme listing on the official site for current availability.

Living in Bayern

Rosenheim is a mid-sized city of approximately 65,000 inhabitants in Upper Bavaria (Oberbayern), located about 60 km south-east of Munich and close to the Austrian border. It sits at the confluence of the Inn and Mangfall rivers and is a gateway to the Bavarian Alps. The city has a strong industrial and craft tradition, excellent rail connections to Munich (approx. 40 minutes by regional train), and a lively pedestrian old town. The surrounding region is one of the economically strongest in Germany, offering extensive internship and graduate employment opportunities.

Student life & support

The International Office provides a Welcome Service for incoming degree-seeking students, including a structured onboarding programme and student tutors who assist with settling in. German language courses are offered on campus to help international students integrate into academic and daily life. The university's size and regional location foster a 'familial atmosphere' with small-group teaching in over 100 workshops and laboratories. Student accommodation options in Rosenheim are managed through the Studierendenwerk; prospective students should apply for a dormitory place early as demand is high. Health insurance (public student tariff) is mandatory from enrolment.
