About Universität Potsdam

Universität Potsdam is a public research university founded in 1991 in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. It is the largest university in Brandenburg and is organized into seven faculties covering law, philosophy, human sciences, economics and social sciences, mathematics and natural sciences, digital engineering, and health sciences. The university holds System Accreditation status and is a member of the European University Association and the Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN).

The university operates across three campuses in Potsdam: Am Neuen Palais (within the Sanssouci Park area), Golm (science and humanities campus), and Griebnitzsee (economics, law, and digital engineering). A growing portfolio of English-taught master's programmes makes it accessible to international students, particularly in STEM and the natural sciences.

In the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2026, Universität Potsdam placed 201-250 globally and ranked first among young German universities (under 50 years old) in the THE Young University Ranking 2024, placing 17th worldwide in that category.
