dMAT result 2026 is out: official login, your score and what APS India needs
TL;DR: The dMAT result for the 26 September 2026 test is out. g.a.s.t., the organisation that runs the dMAT, published results in its participant portal on 12 October 2026. Log in through the official g.a.s.t. participant login with the account you made when you booked the test, download your dMAT certificate and add it to your APS India documents. There is no pass mark: each module gets a score from 0 to 200 (100 is the average), and you also get a percentile rank.
dMAT result 2026: is it out?
Yes, the dMAT exam result is out. The g.a.s.t. FAQ for graduate students in India says results for the 26 September 2026 test "will be published in the g.a.s.t. participant portal on 12 October 2026", and the APS India dMAT page gives the same date for the first certificates. This was the first dMAT sitting in India, held at ten centres from New Delhi to Chennai.
Your result comes from g.a.s.t., not from APS India. APS India does not publish scores, so there is no point emailing them to ask for yours.
You are not the only one refreshing the page. Google Trends for India shows searches for "dmat" jumping on 12 October, with "dmat exam login", "dmat results", "dmat score" and "gast" the fastest-rising searches of the week. Search interest was highest in Telangana, followed by Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
Official dMAT exam login for your result
There is one official place to see your dMAT result: the g.a.s.t. participant portal.
- dMAT login for results: g.a.s.t. participant login (account.gast.de). This is the same link as the "Login Participants" button at the top of d-mat.de.
- Official dMAT website: d-mat.de, where g.a.s.t. posts test dates and the next sitting.
That is also why so many people are searching "gast": g.a.s.t. runs the test, so the login sits on gast.de and not on a dMAT or APS address. If a page asks you to log in anywhere else to "see your dMAT result", close it.
How to check your dMAT result, step by step
- Open d-mat.de and click Login Participants, or use the direct login link.
- Sign in with the username and password you created when you booked the test. There is no separate result login. It is the same g.a.s.t. account, which is why our dMAT registration walkthrough told you to use an email address you would still be reading in October.
- In the participant portal, download your dMAT certificate. g.a.s.t. issues the certificate itself, and you can download it again at any time.
- Check that your name and date of birth match your passport before you send the certificate anywhere.
- Submit the certificate to APS India, as described below.
If you cannot log in, or the certificate is not showing, write to g.a.s.t. at [email protected]. APS India sends all dMAT questions to that address, because it has no access to your g.a.s.t. account.
How to read your dMAT score
Your certificate shows two kinds of number: dMAT scores and a percentile rank. According to d-mat.de, this is what each one means:
| On the certificate | What it means |
|---|---|
| Core module score | Your correct answers converted to a scale from 0 to 200, where 100 is the mean |
| Subject module score | The same 0 to 200 scale, for the subject module you sat |
| Total score | The two module scores added together |
| Percentile rank | The share of other test takers who scored the same as you or lower. A percentile rank of 70 means 70 per cent did no better than you. |
Two things follow from that. Because the total adds two 0 to 200 scores, it can go up to 400, and the average total is around 200. And because g.a.s.t. measures every score against all test takers at all centres and on every test date, a 110 from Pune means the same as a 110 from Chennai.
What is a good dMAT score? Is there a passing score?
There is no passing score. Neither g.a.s.t. nor APS India publishes a pass mark or a universal cut-off.
What you can say is where you stand. A module score above 100 is above the average of everyone who sat the test, and your percentile rank tells you how many people you finished ahead of. d-mat.de says each university decides for itself how to use the result, and gives an example: a university may use the percentile rank to admit only the top 10 per cent.
For APS, the APS India website is explicit: "A low dMAT score does not automatically lead to a refusal of the APS certificate." The score goes on your APS certificate, and the universities you apply to decide what it is worth. d-mat.de names RWTH Aachen University (for its M.Sc. Battery Science and Technology) and the University of Goettingen among the universities that use the dMAT in their own selection, so if either is on your list, read that programme's admission page for how it weighs the score.
dMAT score for APS: sending your certificate to APS India
g.a.s.t.'s instruction is short: download the dMAT certificate from the participant portal and submit it to APS. It has to be part of your APS documents.
If you already sent your APS documents because the certificate was not out yet, you are covered. The APS India dMAT page lets applicants submit their APS documents first and the dMAT certificate later, once it is available. Three conditions come with that:
- The late option applies only to the dMAT certificate. Every other document follows the normal APS checklist.
- You cannot slip in new or updated academic documents alongside the late dMAT certificate for the same APS procedure.
- APS India can only issue your APS certificate after it has your dMAT certificate. Until then your file waits.
The APS India page does not say how to send the certificate in late. Ask APS India at [email protected] before you send anything, rather than guessing. Once it is in, your dMAT result is shown on the APS certificate itself.
Not sure you needed the dMAT at all? If you registered for APS online, or shipped your complete documents, before 29 June 2026, or already hold an APS certificate, read when APS certificate holders still need the dMAT. For the full rule, including the affected degree fields, see our dMAT Germany guide.
dMAT certificate validity
g.a.s.t. says the dMAT certificate is "generally valid indefinitely", so you will not need to resit just because time passes. The catch is the university: g.a.s.t. adds that a university may apply its own rules on how long it accepts a result. If you plan to apply a few years from now, check the programme's rules then.
Not happy with your score? The next dMAT exam date
You can take the dMAT again. g.a.s.t. says you may take it "as many times as you wish". It does not say which attempt a university or APS India will look at, so ask the programme you are targeting before you book a resit.
The next dMAT after 26 September 2026 is planned for the first quarter of 2027, according to the g.a.s.t. FAQ. The exact date will go up on d-mat.de once it is confirmed. When registration opens, the steps will be the same as in our dMAT registration walkthrough. Note that the fee in 2026 was 150 euros per attempt, charged by g.a.s.t.
What to do with your score next
A dMAT score on its own does not tell you which German master's programmes you can get into. That depends on your degree, your grades and the programme's own rules. If you want a second opinion on where your profile fits, our free profile evaluation takes about two minutes to fill in. For the rest of the APS process, see our APS certificate guide.
