Exemptions: nationals of Great Britain/Northern Ireland/Ireland/USA/Canada/Australia/New Zealand/Malta; two years of full-time English-taught study within the past two years in those countries; five school years of English plus at least 5 points in English at Abitur level (Germany and Luxembourg only).

German Language

German-taught programmes: sufficient German by the end of the application period via DSD II, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, TestDaF TDN 4 in all four parts, Goethe C2 GDS, Feststellungspruefung (German part passed) or DSH-2/DSH-3. Without one of these, a completed B2 certificate must be submitted with the application and qualifying applicants are invited to the obligatory DSH exam at Trier (three attempts on consecutive dates; DSH-2 required to enrol; no preparation courses offered by the university). Applicants from German-speaking countries/regions and holders of a German HZB are exempt.
