What it costs
Ostfalia charges no tuition fees for any student category, including non-EU/EEA international students. Students pay a semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) only: approximately €472.80 per semester at the Wolfenbüttel, Wolfsburg, and Suderburg campuses (breakdown: €75 administration + €150 student services + €21 student union + €226.80 Germany-wide semester ticket); approximately €434.80 at Salzgitter. Admission requirements
International applicants for bachelor's programmes apply via the uni-assist platform. Master's applicants apply directly through Ostfalia's online portal (cmo.ostfalia.de). Applicants must hold a recognised university entrance qualification. German language proficiency is required for German-taught programmes; Ostfalia accepts TestDaF and telc Deutsch certificates among others, with the required level specified per programme in a downloadable PDF on the admissions page. Applicants from India, China, and Vietnam must submit a valid APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) certificate - the university advises early APS applications due to processing times. Some consecutive and continuing master's programmes have programme-specific language or admission regulations per their Zulassungsordnung.
Application deadlines
Bachelor's programmes (via uni-assist): general deadline 15 July for Winter Semester; an earlier deadline of 15 June applies to selected high-demand programmes (including Informatik, Wirtschaftsinformatik, Soziale Arbeit Dual, Angewandte Psychologie, and Berufspädagogik und Management im Rettungsdienst). Master's programmes (direct to Ostfalia): approximately 15 November - 15 January for Summer Semester; approximately 15 May - 15 July for Winter Semester. Verify current deadlines on the official admissions page before applying.
How international applicants apply
Bachelor with a foreign school-leaving certificate: application via uni-assist (standard procedure - documents uploaded at my.uni-assist.de are checked and forwarded to Ostfalia); this route also applies to Studienkolleg placement, where uni-assist assesses indirect higher-education access and Ostfalia registers candidates at the Niedersächsisches Studienkolleg. An existing uni-assist VPD not older than two years can be submitted instead via the direct online portal. Exemptions from uni-assist: graduates of a state-recognised German Studienkolleg with Feststellungsprüfung apply directly via the Ostfalia portal. Master's programmes: no uni-assist - direct application via Ostfalia's online portal (windows approx. 15 May - 15 July for winter, 15 November - 15 January for summer). Applicants with certificates from India, China and Vietnam additionally require a valid APS certificate.
Languages of instruction
The majority of programmes are taught in German. A selection of master's programmes is offered in English; prospective students should check the programme finder on the official website for the current list of English-taught options. The university language centre provides language courses including German as a foreign language for incoming international students.
Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
