Living in Ludwigsburg

Ludwigsburg is a mid-sized city of roughly 95,000 inhabitants in the Stuttgart metropolitan region, Baden-Württemberg. It is best known for its large Baroque palace and palace gardens. The city is well connected to Stuttgart by suburban rail (S-Bahn), which takes approximately 15-20 minutes, giving students access to a major metropolitan area while benefiting from Ludwigsburg's lower cost of living. The wider region offers access to the Neckar valley, vineyards, and the Black Forest.

Student life & support

The International Office (Internationales Büro) supports incoming exchange students and degree-seeking international students through the application process, arrival orientation, and campus integration. A buddy programme and intercultural encounter events (language tandems, volunteer activities) help international students connect with German peers. The university's language centre offers TestDaF examination preparation and German language courses. Housing is not arranged directly by the university; students are advised to contact the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart, which manages student housing (Wohnheime) in the Ludwigsburg area. For incoming exchange students, the coordinator is Denise Wintrich ([email protected]).
