About Steinbeis Hochschule
Steinbeis Hochschule GmbH (Steinbeis University of Applied Sciences) is a state-recognised private university founded in 1998 and headquartered in Berlin. It operates as a GmbH under the higher education law of Saxony-Anhalt and holds programme accreditation through the German Accreditation Council (listed in the ELIAS database). The university is named after Ferdinand von Steinbeis (1807–1893), the pioneer of vocational and dual education in Germany.
The institution delivers bachelor's and master's degree programmes exclusively in work-integrated and part-time formats, combining academic study with project-based learning inside real companies. Academic delivery is handled by six affiliated partner schools operating from different German cities: ADG Business School (Montabaur), SBA Management School (Gaggenau-Ottenau), SMT – Steinbeis School of Management and Technology (Filderstadt), SREM Steinbeis School for Real Estate and Management (Freiburg), SIBE – Steinbeis School of International Business and Entrepreneurship (Herrenberg), and Steinbeis University – Schools of Next Practices (Berlin). Subject areas span management, economics, technology, real estate, and social sciences.
Because each partner school manages its own admissions and programme fees, prospective students must contact the relevant partner directly. The university's own website does not publish centralised tuition fees, intake deadlines, or student enrolment totals.

Admission requirements
For bachelor's admission, a valid higher education entrance qualification is required — this includes the German Abitur, Fachhochschulreife, equivalent foreign school-leaving certificates, or completion of at least two years of vocational training in a related field plus three years of professional experience. For master's admission, a first university or higher education degree is required (minimum 180 ECTS for bachelor's route); continuing-education master's programmes additionally require at least one year of relevant professional experience. Where language proficiency is required for a specific programme, an internationally recognised certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge) must be provided — specific score thresholds are set at programme level by the individual partner schools. No centralised APS requirement is mentioned on the university's website; Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants should nonetheless confirm APS obligations with the German consulate and the relevant partner school before applying, as this is a German statutory requirement independent of the university. Applications are submitted directly to the responsible partner school, not to Steinbeis Hochschule GmbH centrally.
Languages of instruction
German-taught bachelor's programmes and English-taught master's programmes are both available, depending on the partner school and specific programme. The Berlin-based Steinbeis University – Schools of Next Practices explicitly offers German-language bachelor's and English-language master's programmes. Other partner schools vary; applicants should verify the language of instruction with the relevant partner.

Living in Berlin
The university's registered headquarters and the Steinbeis University – Schools of Next Practices campus are located in Berlin, the German capital and largest city. Berlin is a major student city with around 200,000 enrolled students across more than 70 higher education institutions. The Adlershof science and technology park in south-east Berlin, where the Schools of Next Practices campus sits, hosts numerous research institutes, tech start-ups, and Humboldt-Universität natural science departments, making it a relevant environment for digitally-focused programmes.
Student life & support
The university's study model is work-integrated and primarily part-time, meaning most students are employed professionals combining study with full-time work rather than traditional campus-based students. On-campus student life infrastructure (dormitories, student unions) is therefore not a prominent feature of the institution. Online libraries are available to enrolled students. Each partner school has its own advisory and support structure; the SIBE partner, for example, maintains its own student advisory team. Prospective international students should contact the relevant partner school's international or student advisory office for location-specific support details.
