Admissions & fees

What it costs

TH Bingen is a public university in Rhineland-Palatinate. Rhineland-Palatinate does not charge tuition fees for non-EU/EEA students (unlike Baden-Württemberg, which charges €1,500 per semester for non-EU students). All enrolled students pay a semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) that typically covers administrative costs and student services; the exact current amount was not published on the official pages checked. Distance-learning modules carry a separate per-module fee of €145.

Admission requirements

International applicants apply via the inCampo online portal; all documents are uploaded as PDFs (no physical submission required). For German-taught bachelor programmes, a minimum German language level of B2 is required; accepted proofs include DSH-1 and TestDaF (minimum level 3 per component). For master's programmes, a relevant bachelor's degree with a minimum German grade of 2.5 is required; applicants with grades up to 3.0 may be considered if they can demonstrate professional experience or international study periods. Applicants from India, China (PRC including Hong Kong and Macau), and Vietnam must obtain an APS certificate before applying; without it the German consulate will not issue a student visa. Foreign qualifications are assessed for equivalence; applicants should verify their school's anabin status at kmk.org/anabin before applying.

Application deadlines

Winter semester (October start): application window opens from early May; most programmes have a deadline of 15 September, with some engineering programmes (e.g. Maschinenbau, Klimaschutz) closing 30 September. Summer semester (April start): application window opens from mid-November each year. Specific closing dates per programme should be confirmed on the university's inCampo portal.

How international applicants apply

uni-assist VPD REQUIRED for applicants with foreign certificates. Before applying to TH Bingen, applicants register at my.uni-assist.de, select the semester and TH Bingen, upload documents and pay the uni-assist handling fee; uni-assist issues the Vorprüfungsdokumentation (VPD), which must be uploaded to TH Bingen's own HISinOne application portal (incampo.th-bingen.de). The VPD must be issued FOR TH Bingen and is valid for one year; processing takes about 6-8 weeks, and the payment receipt can temporarily substitute for the VPD (with 4 more weeks to deliver it). Exempt from the VPD: holders of a Studienkolleg assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung), Erasmus exchange applicants, and master's applicants with a German bachelor's degree. At uni-assist one selects simply 'All Bachelor's' or 'All Master's'; the concrete programme is then chosen on the TH Bingen portal. English-taught master's accept IELTS >=5.5 / TOEFL iBT >=72 / TOEIC >=785 / Cambridge B2 (max 2 years old); German-taught programmes accept DSH-1, TestDaF TDN 3 in all parts, or equivalent. Only the semester fee is charged - no extra fees for international students.

Languages of instruction

The majority of programmes are taught in German; prospective students for German-taught programmes must demonstrate at least B2-level German (accepted certificates include DSH Stufe 1 and TestDaF at minimum level 3 in all four components). A selection of programmes is offered in English, including Applied Communication Systems (B.Eng.), Automation and Control Engineering (B.Eng.), Sustainable Power Engineering (B.Eng.), Environmental Sustainability (M.Sc.), Computer Science / Informatik (M.Sc.), Synthetic Biotechnology (M.Sc.), Viticulture and Enology (M.Sc.), and Wine, Sustainability & Sales (MBA).

Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
