What it costs

No tuition fees are charged (Studiengebühren). The semester contribution for Winter Semester 2026/27 is €456.36, covering student representation (AStA), a semester public-transport ticket, student services (Studentenwerk Osnabrück), and an administrative fee. Exchange/incoming students and preparatory students pay a reduced rate of €381.36 (exempt from the €75 administrative fee). Long-term study fees of €500/semester apply to students who exceed their standard study duration allowance.

Admission requirements

All degree programmes at Universität Vechta are admission-free (zulassungsfrei) - there is no numerus clausus. Enrolment is granted once the relevant entry qualification is verified. The application portal for Winter Semester 2026/27 is open from 20 May to 30 September 2026. International applicants should contact the International Office for guidance on recognition of foreign qualifications and language requirements. German language proficiency is required; the university provides free preparatory German intensive courses. Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants whose prior qualification was obtained in those countries must hold an APS certificate before applying for a German student visa, though the university's own pages do not spell out this requirement explicitly.

Application deadlines

Winter Semester (October start): application portal open 20 May - 30 September. Summer Semester deadlines are not published on the official admissions page. All programmes are admission-free (no NC), so early application is recommended to secure housing and system access rather than for competitive reasons.

How international applicants apply

Direct application - no uni-assist. The International Office's official 'Study in Germany: Step by Step' guide tells international applicants to 'submit your application for a study programme directly via the online application portal of the University of Vechta' (HISinOne portal, hisinone.uni-vechta.de); application for most degree programmes opens early June for winter semester with a deadline of 30 September. Applicants from China, Vietnam and India must additionally submit an APS certificate with their application. Vechta does not appear on the uni-assist member list.

Languages of instruction

Instruction is primarily in German. The university offers a Language Centre with courses in 12 languages. No fully English-taught bachelor's or master's programmes are listed on the official programme pages. German language proficiency is required for standard admission; the International Office runs free German intensive courses at B1/B2/C1/C2 levels for prospective and enrolled international students.

Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
