Living in Vechta

Vechta is a small town of around 35,000 inhabitants in the Oldenburger Münsterland region of Lower Saxony, roughly 50 km south of Oldenburg and 80 km west of Bremen. It is characterised by a rural, low cost-of-living environment compared to larger German university cities. The town has good road connections; Oldenburg and Bremen offer the nearest major train hubs for onward travel.

Student life & support

The International Office provides orientation, buddy programmes, and an International Club with social events for incoming students. Free German intensive courses (B1 through C2) run throughout the year on campus in morning sessions. Housing support is available through student services (Studentenwerk Osnabrück); on-campus or nearby student residences are typical for a university of this size. The university sports centre, dining hall (Mensa), and library are accessible to all enrolled students. The Central Study Advising office (Zentrale Studienberatung) can be reached by phone or email at [email protected].
