Admissions & fees

What it costs

As a public university in Schleswig-Holstein, EUF charges no general tuition fees for its regular degree programmes. Students pay a semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) each semester, which typically includes a semester transport ticket. Applicants applying via uni-assist also pay uni-assist handling fees. Verify the current semester contribution amount and any programme-specific fees on the official EUF enrolment pages, as these are set per semester. {{ verify: 2026-06 }}

Admission requirements

International degree-seeking applicants generally apply through uni-assist (the University Application Service for International Students), which checks the recognition of foreign entry qualifications. Language requirements depend on the programme: German-taught programmes require proof of German proficiency, while English-taught programmes require proof of English (for example, the M.A. European Studies requires C1-level English, e.g. IELTS Academic band 7.0 or TOEFL iBT 94). Note for applicants from India, China and Vietnam: a Germany-wide APS certificate (Akademische Prüfstelle) is normally required for the student visa and admission; confirm exact APS requirements with the EUF International Center and the APS office serving your country.

Application deadlines

For international applicants applying via uni-assist, the winter semester deadline is commonly 1 July (with applicants advised to apply well in advance; an earlier recommended date around 15 May is suggested). Some programmes start only in the winter/fall semester. Deadlines vary by programme and applicant type, so confirm the exact dates for your chosen programme on the official EUF application and dates-and-deadlines pages. {{ verify: 2026-06 }}

How international applicants apply

No uni-assist. Application is exclusively online via EUF's own Online-Bewerbungsportal (HISinOne-based) - explicitly also for international applicants (exception: Master Sustainable Energy / Development applies directly to the programme). Europa-Universitaet Flensburg is not on uni-assist's member list; note that neighbouring Flensburg University of Applied Sciences (FUAS/Hochschule Flensburg), a separate institution on the same campus, does use uni-assist - do not conflate the two.

Languages of instruction

Most degree programmes are taught in German. Several internationally oriented programmes are taught entirely in English, including the M.A. European Studies (100% English; no German required) and master's programmes in Sustainable Energy. EUF operates a Language Center for German and other language instruction.

Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
