Europäische Fachhochschule Rhein/Erft GmbH

Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany

About EUFH

Europäische Fachhochschule Rhein/Erft GmbH (EUFH) was a state-recognised private Fachhochschule founded in 2001 and headquartered in Brühl, in the Rhein-Erft district of North Rhine-Westphalia. It specialised in practice-oriented degree programmes across management, technology, health, social work, and pedagogy, delivered primarily through dual-study (ausbildungsintegrierend) formats in partnership with approximately 1,300 cooperating companies.

The institution was acquired by CBS International Business School (part of the Stuttgart-based Klett Group) in 2022, with the management and technology division integrated into CBS at that point. The remaining EUFH brand — covering health, social work, and pedagogy — formally merged into the combined CBS University of Applied Sciences entity in March 2025. The original eufh.de domain now redirects to cbs.de. The former Brühl main campus was consolidated into a new shared CBS campus in Cologne-Rodenkirchen (Bahnstraße 6-8, 50996 Cologne) in 2024.

As CBS University of Applied Sciences, the successor institution operates eight campuses across Germany (Cologne, Berlin, Mainz, Rheine, Solingen, Hamburg, Neuss, Rostock), holds system accreditation from the Akkreditierungsrat, and carries FIBAA, AACSB, and IACBE accreditations. International students seeking programmes formerly offered under the EUFH brand should consult cbs.de directly.

Admissions & costs

Tuition & fees

CBS (EUFH successor) is a private institution — tuition fees apply and vary by programme and campus. A one-time enrolment fee of approximately €600 applies. A semester contribution of approximately €300 covers the semester ticket, student services, sports, and student initiatives. Specific programme fees are published on individual programme pages at cbs.de; a differential fee schedule exists for EU and non-EU students. Dual-study students typically have fees covered by their practice partner company.

Admission requirements

As a private Fachhochschule, EUFH/CBS does not apply the standard NC (numerus clausus) cut-off. The institution states no minimum GPA requirement; admission is assessed via a personal interview. International applicants require a recognised secondary school certificate (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) or equivalent. Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants must hold a valid APS certificate before applying. German language proficiency (typically B2) is required for German-taught programmes; English proficiency (IELTS or equivalent) for English-taught programmes. Specific requirements should be verified directly at cbs.de.

Languages of instruction

Living in Nordrhein-Westfalen

Brühl is a mid-sized city of approximately 47,000 residents in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia, located between Cologne (approx. 20 km north) and Bonn (approx. 20 km south). It is served by regional rail (S-Bahn line S23) with fast connections to Cologne city centre. The area is known for Schloss Augustusburg (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Phantasialand theme park. The EUFH Brühl campus has since been consolidated into Cologne-Rodenkirchen.

Student life & support

The former EUFH emphasised close industry integration through dual-study formats; students alternated between campus and placement companies. The Brühl campus offered a compact, community-oriented environment suited to this work-study rhythm. Following the merger into CBS, student life is now anchored at the Cologne-Rodenkirchen campus, which features modern lecture halls, group work areas, a library, and a cafeteria on approximately 16,000 square metres along the Rhine riverfront.
