Admissions & fees

What it costs

No tuition fees are charged. The semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) is €354.93 per semester from WS 2026/27 (previously €336.93 in WS 2025/26). This covers student services (Studentenwerksbeitrag), the Germany-wide semester ticket (Deutschlandticket), and AStA fee. Sachsen does not impose a non-EU surcharge at this institution.

Admission requirements

International applicants must hold a recognised university entrance qualification (Hochschulreife or equivalent). German language proficiency at C1 level is required; accepted certificates are telc C1 Hochschule, TestDaF (minimum 16 points, at least 3 points per skill area), or Goethe-Zertifikat C1. At application stage a registration confirmation for a C1 exam is accepted. Subject-specific prerequisites apply: Social Work and Early Childhood Education require at least 6 months of relevant practical experience (min. 20 hrs/week); Nursing requires a practice-institution contract and medical fitness certification. APS certificate is required for Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants per standard German regulations. Enquiries from international prospective students should be directed to Florian Bogner ([email protected]) or the International Office.

Application deadlines

Bachelor (full-time): Social Work - 1 April annually; Early Childhood Education - 1 June; Nursing - 1 June (winter semester), 1 December (summer semester); Protestant Religious and Community Education - 1 May (music specialisation), 1 June (other tracks). Master deadlines are programme-specific; check individual programme pages on ehs-dresden.de.

How international applicants apply

Not used. ehs Dresden runs its own admission procedure: applications are submitted via its own portal and reviewed by a selection committee (lecturers, students and practice representatives). German C1 is required (telc C1 Hochschule, TestDaF min. 16 pts, or Goethe-Zertifikat C1). Additional special study places exist for applicants from Central/Eastern Europe and the post-Soviet region and for applicants with a refugee background. Not listed as a uni-assist member university.

Languages of instruction

All programmes are taught in German. C1 German proficiency is mandatory for admission.

Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
