Admissions & fees

What it costs

Study at HAW Landshut is tuition-free for all students (domestic and international). The only mandatory payment is the Studierendenwerksbeitrag (student services contribution) of €125.62 per semester, which includes a local bus pass for Landshut city transit. As of the available information, HAW Landshut has not introduced separate non-EU tuition fees under the 2023 Bavarian higher education law (only TU München has done so among Bavarian public universities). Verify directly with the university for the current academic year.

Admission requirements

International applicants must have their foreign qualifications assessed via uni-assist (preliminary examination, VDP document, fee ~€75) before applying through the PRIMUSS portal. Applicants from India, China, and Vietnam must additionally obtain an APS certificate prior to application. Bachelor's programmes require German B2; master's programmes require German C1 (exception: English-taught programmes at Dingolfing require B2 English). Application window for the winter semester runs mid-April to mid-July; for the summer semester, mid-November to mid-January. Qualification recognition is verified against the KMK anabin database.

Application deadlines

Winter semester (October start): mid-April to mid-July. Summer semester (April start): mid-November to mid-January. Master's deadlines may extend to end of August for some programmes. Applications submitted via PRIMUSS portal; uni-assist VDP and APS (where required) must be completed before the application deadline.

How international applicants apply

uni-assist for VPD only (Vorpruefungsdokumentation). Bildungsauslaender (school-leaving certificate obtained outside Germany) must request a VPD from uni-assist (EUR 75) in parallel, then submit the actual application directly via the HAW Landshut applicant portal (PRIMUSS). APS certificate additionally required for applicants from China, Vietnam and India. Listed as uni-assist member ('Hochschule Landshut', VPD procedure).

Languages of instruction

German-taught programmes require B2 (bachelor's) or C1 (master's) German proficiency. Two English-taught programmes at the Dingolfing campus require B2 English. Recognised certificates include TestDaF, Goethe-Zertifikat, DSH, IELTS, and TOEFL.

Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
