Living in Weingarten

Weingarten is a small university city in the south of Baden-Württemberg, sharing its student life with the neighbouring city of Ravensburg - together hosting around 8,000 students. The area sits between the Alps, Lake Constance, and the Swabian Alb, offering easy access to outdoor recreation, skiing, and cycling. Ravensburg (5 km) provides a historic old town, shops, and transport links, while Stuttgart and Munich are reachable within 2-2.5 hours by train.

Student life & support

Student life at RWU is described as close-knit and practice-oriented. Active student groups include the Formula Student racing project (running since 2009, celebrated its 20th car in 2026), RoboCup Team, H.O.M.E. makerspace, First Responder emergency group, and sustainability initiatives. Shared recreational facilities with PH Weingarten include a sports hall, swimming pool, tennis courts, and stadium. Student housing (Wohnheime) is available on or near campus. The International Office runs orientation programmes and an incoming buddy system for international students.
