Admissions & fees

What it costs

No tuition fees. All programmes carry a semester contribution of €275.50, which includes the German semester public transport ticket (Semesterticket). BAföG state funding is available for eligible students.

Admission requirements

Undergraduate (Bachelor) and Magister programmes require the German general university entrance qualification (Abitur) or equivalent vocational higher education qualification (BBHZVO). International applicants must demonstrate German language proficiency at C1 level. For the Licentiate and Doctoral (Promotion) programmes, a completed ten-semester theological or philosophical-theological degree with a minimum grade of 2.5 is required, along with evidence of biblical language competence and relevant ecclesiastical credentials. APS certificate is not specifically mentioned for Indian, Chinese, or Vietnamese applicants on the official site; prospective students from those countries should confirm with the institution. Initial contact for applications can be made via [email protected] or [email protected].

Application deadlines

The KHKT publishes no fixed application deadline on its website; enrolment starts with an email to [email protected] or [email protected], followed by a first interview (online or on campus) and then submission of documents within the applicant's own timeframe. Applicants without German secondary qualifications need proven German skills at C1 level.

How international applicants apply

No uni-assist. KHKT uses a purely direct application route: prospects email [email protected] or [email protected], are invited to a first interview (digital or on campus, no documents required), and only afterwards submit their documents (birth certificate copy, HZB certificate or equivalent, CV, photo, health insurance proof, etc.) straight to the Hochschule. International applicants must prove German at C1 level. No uni-assist, VPD, hochschulstart or Studienkolleg procedure is mentioned anywhere on khkt.de, and KHKT does not appear on the uni-assist member list.

Languages of instruction

Primarily German. C1 German proficiency is required for international applicants. Some international engagement and visiting lecturer programmes operate in other languages.

Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
