About Macromedia University of Applied Sciences
Macromedia University of Applied Sciences (Macromedia Hochschule) is a private, state-recognised university of applied sciences in Germany, part of the Galileo Global Education group since 2013. It enrolls more than 5,200 students across its locations and offers over 70 programmes spanning creative, digital, and management disciplines - including Coding, Design and Art, Fashion, Film and Acting, Management, Media, and Music.
English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes are offered at two campuses: Berlin (Kreuzberg) and Munich (city centre). Both campuses hold system accreditation from the German Accreditation Council (since July 2019) and institutional accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities (first awarded 2011, reaccredited 2022). All awarded degrees are state-recognised.
Admission is open - no numerus clausus (NC) applies. The entry requirement is a high school diploma or Fachhochschulreife (advanced technical college entrance qualification). Semesters start in April (summer) and October (winter). With more than 500 faculty members drawn from professional practice, the university emphasises applied, industry-connected learning.
Founded year refers to the Hochschule entity, which took up study operations in Munich in 2006 with Bavarian state approval; the sponsoring Macromedia GmbH dates back to 1993.
Academic life is organised in two faculties: Fakultät Kultur, Medien, Psychologie and Fakultät Business, Design, Technologie (official Fakultäten page).
Seat note: the official site states the sponsor seat is now in Brandenburg (Potsdam); teaching campuses are Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Köln, Leipzig, München and Stuttgart. The 15% international share is the MyGermanUniversity figure (2022, 4,826 students total).

What it costs
Macromedia is a private university of applied sciences; tuition fees apply to all students regardless of nationality. Specific fee amounts are not published on the official website - the university directs prospective students to request an information brochure or contact the advisory team. The state-imposed non-EU fee of €1,500 per semester (applicable to public universities in Baden-Württemberg from WS2017/18) does not apply here as Macromedia is a private institution with its own fee structure.

How international applicants apply
No uni-assist. Macromedia takes applications directly through its own online application portal and Student Advisory Service ([email protected]). Required documents per the official admission page: certified secondary education certificate (plus tertiary certificates if applicable), English proficiency TOEFL iBT min. 72 / IELTS min. 6.0 / equivalent incl. Burlington VTest, motivation letter and passport copy; school leaving certificates from outside Bavaria must be officially approved as equivalent where necessary. No uni-assist, VPD, APS-forwarding or Studienkolleg step appears on the official admission pages and Macromedia University is not a uni-assist member university (the similarly named 'Media University of Applied Sciences (HMKW)' on that list is a different institution).
Languages of instruction
Programmes are taught in German and English. English-medium bachelor's and master's degrees are available at the Berlin and Munich campuses, covering disciplines such as Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Brand Management, Business Management, Media and Communication Management, and several MBA tracks.
