Admissions & costs
Tuition & fees
There are no tuition fees at OTH Regensburg for any student regardless of nationality (consistent with Bavarian public university policy as of the information available on the official site). A semester contribution of €199 per semester applies to all students; this covers the student union (Studentenwerk) services and a public-transport semester ticket. Non-EU students enrolled in English-language degree programmes pay an additional service fee of €500 per semester.
Admission requirements
International applicants must hold a recognised higher education entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, HZB). For most German-taught programmes, sufficient German language proficiency is required; English-taught Master's programmes accept English-language qualifications instead. Applicants from India, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), and Vietnam are required to obtain an APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) certificate before applying — this is a mandatory document-verification step processed at the respective German embassy. Programme-specific requirements (Numerus Clausus, subject prerequisites) should be checked on individual programme pages. The university uses an online application portal.
Application deadlines
Specific application deadline dates are not published centrally on the official website; applicants are directed to check individual programme pages or contact the Admissions and Organisation Office. The summer semester 2026 begins 15 March 2026 (lectures from 16 March); the winter semester 2026/27 admission and matriculation period opens from 1 August 2026.
Languages of instruction
Most degree programmes are taught in German. Six programmes are delivered primarily in English: B.Sc. International Computer Science, B.Eng. International Mechanical Engineering, B.Eng. International Electrical Engineering, M.A. International Management, M.Eng. Electrical and Microsystems Engineering, and M.Sc. Mathematics for Business and Industry. Preparatory German language courses are available for admitted applicants who hold at least B1 level.

Living in Bayern
Regensburg is a UNESCO World Heritage city of approximately 160,000 inhabitants on the Danube river in eastern Bavaria, around 100 km north-east of Munich. It has one of the best-preserved medieval old towns in Germany, a lively student population (two universities), and good rail connections to Munich (90 minutes) and Nuremberg (60 minutes). The cost of living is lower than Munich while retaining strong employment links to the regional automotive, technology, and life-science sectors.
Student life & support
On-campus accommodation is managed by Studentenwerk Niederbayern/Oberpfalz (STWNO), which operates student residences in and around Regensburg; applications go directly to STWNO. The International Office (located at Galgenbergstraße 30, rooms D113–119, D215, D217) is the central point of contact for incoming international and exchange students, offering guidance on living in Regensburg, study-abroad opportunities, and visa-related questions. Preparatory German language courses are available for prospective students at B1 level or above. The student council (StuV) and psychosocial counselling services support student welfare.
