Language Requirements

Entry Requirements

English Proficiency

No English-language test (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/Cambridge/Duolingo) is required for admission. Trossingen University of Music is a German-taught conservatory; the only additional language proof required from international applicants is German proficiency (see german_requirement). Aptitude/entrance exams and the written and oral parts of the Begabtenpruefung (aptitude test for applicants without a German Abitur or recognised equivalent) are conducted in German.

German Language

German B2 (CEFR), proven by a certificate from an independent institution (e.g. Goethe-Institut). For most Bachelor's and Master's programmes this certificate does not have to be submitted at the time of application/audition, but must be submitted before re-registration for the third semester (i.e. by the end of the second semester of study) - otherwise re-registration into the third semester is not possible. Exception: applicants to the Bachelor's programmes in Gymnasiallehramt (Gymnasium teaching degree, incl. Jazz/Popularmusik broadening subject) and Musik und Bewegung, and to the Master's programme in Musikwissenschaft (musicology), must already hold a B2 certificate before the entrance exam (Aufnahmepruefung) itself.
