Berufsakademie

Berufsakademie Rhein-Main Rödermark

About Berufsakademie Rhein-Main Rödermark

Berufsakademie Rhein-Main (BA Rhein-Main) is the largest independent cooperative education academy (Berufsakademie) in Hesse, and among the largest in Germany. Founded in September 2002 and located in Rödermark, it offers dual study programmes that alternate between academic phases at the academy and practical phases at one of over 140 partner companies. All programmes lead to a Bachelor of Science degree within three years.

The academy holds permanent state recognition (awarded November 2007) and all four programmes were reaccredited without conditions through ZEvA (Hannover) in 2020. As of 2024, enrolment stands at over 600 students, with 244 new enrolments recorded in 2024 alone — a record for the institution.

BA Rhein-Main's dual-study model means the partner company covers tuition costs and pays students a monthly allowance during their studies. The four programmes cover Business Administration and International Management, Applied Computer Science, Business Informatics, and Industrial Engineering (Digital Management and Engineering).

Admissions & costs

Tuition & fees

In the dual-study model, the partner company bears the tuition costs and pays the student a monthly practical-phase allowance (approximately €1,550/month is cited). There is no separate tuition fee charged to the student directly. This applies regardless of nationality; however, students must first secure a company contract.

Admission requirements

All applicants must hold a university entrance qualification (Abitur, Fachabitur, or equivalent). Foreign qualifications must be equivalent to a German Hochschulzugangsberechtigung; applicants are advised to verify recognition via anabin.kmk.org before applying. International applicants must submit official certified translations of all certificates. German language proficiency is mandatory: accepted certificates are DSH, TestDaF (minimum TDN 4 in all sections), GDS, KDS, ZOP, or Deutsches Sprachdiplom Level 2. The ZMP certificate is not accepted. Uniquely for a Berufsakademie, admission also requires an applicant to secure a 'study and practical training contract' with one of the academy's partner companies before enrolment can be confirmed. APS certificate (Akademische Prüfstelle) is not mentioned in the institution's own materials; Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants should confirm the requirement directly with the academy and the relevant German embassy.

Application deadlines

The academy offers a Winter Semester intake (October start). Available places for Winter Semester 2026 and 2027 are listed on the website, indicating rolling or early-application admissions. No fixed application deadline dates are published; applicants should contact the academy directly.

Languages of instruction

German is the primary language of instruction. Admission requires proof of German proficiency (DSH, TestDaF TDN 4, GDS, KDS, ZOP, or Deutsches Sprachdiplom Level 2). One programme — Business Administration and International Management — has a strong international orientation.

Campuses & locations

Rödermark Campus

Living in the city

Rödermark is a town of approximately 28,000 residents in the Offenbach district of Hesse, situated around 20 km southeast of Frankfurt am Main within the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region. The town is well connected by public transport to Frankfurt and Darmstadt, making it viable for students to access the cultural and social amenities of those cities while studying in a smaller, residential setting.

Student life & support

As a specialist dual-study academy, campus life is closely tied to the rhythm of alternating theory and practice blocks. Students spend practical phases at partner companies across the Rhine-Main region. The compact campus in Rödermark and the relatively small cohort size (600+ students total) create a close-knit academic environment. Frankfurt am Main, with its international student scene, nightlife, and cultural institutions, is easily reachable by S-Bahn.
