About Fachhochschule Esslingen, Hochschule für Sozialwesen
Esslingen University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Esslingen) is a leading applied sciences university in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was formed in 2006 by the merger of the Fachhochschule für Technik Esslingen (technical university with roots to 1868) and the Fachhochschule für Sozialwesen Esslingen (social sciences university founded in 1914). The unified institution operates across three campuses - two in Esslingen and one in Göppingen - and enrols approximately 6,200 students.
The university offers 27 Bachelor's and 14 Master's programmes across six faculties spanning engineering, computer science, management, and social sciences. Its Faculty of Social Work, Education and Nursing Sciences continues the tradition of the former Fachhochschule für Sozialwesen, offering programmes in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Nursing, and related master's degrees. An International Centre and Graduate School supports student mobility and offers English-taught international master's programmes.

Admissions & fees
What it costs
Non-EU/EEA international students pay €1,500 per semester in tuition fees (standard Baden-Württemberg non-EU fee). EU/EEA students and holders of German entrance qualifications are generally tuition-free. A semester contribution (Studierendenwerk and administrative fees) is charged to all students. Exceptionally talented international students may apply for a tuition fee waiver. The Deutschlandstipendium (€300/month) is available for enrolled students.
Admission requirements
International applicants with foreign school-leaving qualifications must have their certificates evaluated for equivalency, typically through Studienkolleg Konstanz. Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants must hold an APS certificate before applying. For bachelor's entry, recognition is coordinated via Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart for German nationals or via Studienkolleg Konstanz for foreign nationals. German language proficiency at DSH-2 / TestDaF average 4.0 / telc C1 Hochschule level is required for enrolment in German-taught programmes. English-taught Graduate School master's programmes have their own admission criteria per programme.

Primarily German-taught. English-taught International Master's programmes offered through the Graduate School. German language proficiency (DSH-2, TestDaF 4.0 average, telc C1 Hochschule, or equivalent) is required for German-taught programmes.

Esslingen am Neckar is a historic city of approximately 93,000 residents in Baden-Württemberg, situated about 15 km southeast of Stuttgart with direct rail and road connections. The medieval old town, Neckar riverside, and proximity to Stuttgart's automotive and technology industry (Porsche, Daimler, Bosch) make it an attractive location for students. Student dormitories in Esslingen and Göppingen offer rooms from approximately €270-€450/month including utilities.
