Living in Oranienburg

Oranienburg is a city of approximately 45,000 residents located around 35 km north of Berlin in the state of Brandenburg. It is well connected to Berlin by regional rail and road. The city is home to the Oranienburg Palace (Schloss Oranienburg), a Baroque landmark, and the Sachsenhausen concentration camp memorial site. Daily life is affordable compared to Berlin, with private housing available on the rental market; the city has no dedicated student dormitories.

Student life & support

Over 1,000 trainees and students are enrolled simultaneously in the 2.5-year training or 3-year degree programmes. The campus provides sports facilities, a shooting range, and a judo/sports hall, reflecting the physical training component of police education. The institution has an active social-media presence and holds an annual open-house day (Tag der offenen Tür). ERASMUS+ exchanges and international police internships offer opportunities for broader exposure to European policing.
