About Hochschule der Wirtschaft für Management

Hochschule der Wirtschaft für Management gGmbH (HdWM) is a state-approved private university of applied sciences located in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg. Founded in 2011, it specialises exclusively in management education and offers bachelor's, master's, and MBA programmes with a strong practical orientation and close ties to partner companies such as Allianz, Daimler, Roche, and John Deere.

HdWM received its third consecutive institutional accreditation from the German Science Council (Wissenschaftsrat) on 25 January 2021 for a further five-year period. Programmes are additionally accredited by AHPGS, FIBAA, and EVALAG. The university is majority-owned by the Internationaler Bund (IB) and is registered at Amtsgericht Mannheim (HRB 710025).

The institution deliberately keeps study groups small and schedules lectures on only two days per week for master's students, targeting working professionals and career-changers. Two fully English-taught degree tracks — the BA Management in International Business and the MA Business Management (EN) — are available for international applicants without German language skills.

Living in Baden-Württemberg

Mannheim is a major commercial and cultural city in the northern Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region of Baden-Württemberg, with approximately 320,000 inhabitants. It is home to the University of Mannheim (one of Germany's leading business schools), Heidelberg University Hospital, and a dense cluster of logistics, pharma, and engineering firms. The city is 15 minutes by rail from Heidelberg and 1 hour from Frankfurt am Main. Mannheim has a notably international population and a lively student scene, with affordable rents compared to Munich or Frankfurt.

Student life & support

HdWM runs a Welcome Week for new international students each semester and organises buddy, tandem, and mentoring programmes to support cultural integration. German language classes are offered from beginner level each semester. The International Office coordinates Erasmus+ exchanges and semester-abroad placements at partner universities worldwide. A careers office facilitates company visits, internship placements, and graduate recruitment events with the university's 50+ corporate partners. The small cohort sizes and two-day lecture schedule make the institution well-suited to students who wish to work part-time or complete concurrent (dual) study programmes.
