Living in Baden-Württemberg

HAM's main campus is in Ismaning, a town of approximately 16,000 residents located 7 km north of Munich in Bavaria. The area is well connected to Munich via the S8 S-Bahn line (5-minute walk from campus to the station), linking to Munich city centre and Munich Airport Franz Josef Strauß. The neighbouring municipality of Unterföhring hosts major German media companies (ProSiebenSat.1, Sky Deutschland, Paramount Pictures), making it Germany's primary media hub. Munich itself is one of Germany's largest cities and offers extensive student infrastructure including student housing, cultural venues, and one of the highest standards of living in Germany.

Student life & support

The Ismaning campus includes a library with print and online resources, quiet study zones, a cafeteria, and a student services office (Studierendenkanzlei) open Monday–Friday 09:00–18:00. A nearby hotel offers a 15% student discount. The campus participates in the Erasmus+ programme, enabling student exchanges with partner universities abroad. A Summer School in Washington D.C. is available for current students. The semi-virtual study model means students attend in-person seminars at their chosen location rather than daily on-campus classes. No dedicated student housing service is listed on the official website; students are expected to arrange private accommodation.
