Hochschule für Gesundheitsfachberufe Eberswalde

Brandenburg, Germany

About HGE

The Hochschule für Gesundheitsfachberufe Eberswalde (HGE) is a private, state-recognized university of applied sciences for health professions in Eberswalde, Brandenburg. It operates under non-profit management as part of the Akademie der Gesundheit Berlin/Brandenburg e.V. (AdG), which is among the largest freely charitable, state-recognized educational institutions for health professions in Germany.

HGE offers two primary-qualifying dual (practice-integrating) Bachelor of Science programmes: B.Sc. Nursing (Pflege, 8 semesters/240 CP) and B.Sc. Midwifery (Hebammenkunde, 7 semesters/210 CP). Both programmes combine a recognised professional vocational qualification with an internationally recognised academic degree. Students split their time between university theory sessions, skills labs, and clinical practice at partner healthcare institutions.

The university actively pursues international partnerships, particularly with universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Vienna (Austria), and participates in Erasmus+ exchanges. Its website is available in German, English, and Vietnamese, reflecting a deliberate strategy to recruit students from Asian countries into Germany's health workforce.

Both programmes are dual (practice-integrating) and require applicants to hold a binding training contract with a partner clinical facility before enrolment. Academic entry requirement: completion of at least 12 years of general education (Abitur or equivalent) or a completed vocational qualification. Additional requirements include a medical fitness certificate, an enhanced criminal background check (erweitertes Führungszeugnis), and a successful admission interview at HGE.
