Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig (HTWK Leipzig) is a state university of applied sciences (Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften) located in Leipzig, Saxony. HTWK Leipzig charges no tuition fees for initial degree studies, consistent with Saxony state policy for both EU and non-EU students. Students pay a semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) covering student-union services and the semester public-transport ticket; the exact current amount is not published as a figure on the official site and should be confirmed at enrolment. A long-term study fee of €500 per semester applies if a student exceeds the standard period of study by more than four semesters.
Admission requirements
International applicants must hold a recognised higher-education entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung). Applications are processed through uni-assist e.V., which handles credential evaluation and grade conversion. Most degree programmes are admission-restricted (zulassungsbeschränkt) with selection based on grades; the Architecture programme additionally requires an aptitude test. German-language proficiency at C1/C2 level is required for entry into degree programmes (accepted certificates: DSH-2, TestDaF TDN 4, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, DSD II, Goethe C2). Applicants whose qualifications do not yet meet entry requirements may apply for a preparatory German course or the Studienkolleg Zittau/Görlitz with B1/B2 German. No specific mention of APS certificate requirement appears on the HTWK Leipzig site; Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants should note that APS is a German embassy requirement for their visa application regardless of university-level instructions.

Languages of instruction
Instruction at HTWK Leipzig is conducted principally in German. Applicants for German-taught programmes must hold a recognised C1/C2 German-language certificate (DSH-2, TestDaF TDN 4 in all sections, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, DSD II, or Goethe-Zertifikat C2). The university language centre offers courses in six languages. A small number of English-taught or English-supported programmes exist at postgraduate level; applicants should verify individual programme requirements directly.

Student life & support
The International Office (Akademisches Auslandsamt) provides central support for international students through the FIT Project (Förderung internationaler Studierender), which guides students from programme selection through to career entry. Services include orientation, integration support, and career-networking events (Career Connect). The university language centre offers courses in six languages at various proficiency levels, which is particularly relevant for international students wishing to improve their German. The campus sports hall runs over 70 course types across 76 hours per week. Student housing is coordinated through the Studentenwerk Leipzig, not directly through HTWK. The student mensa (Mensa Academica) and an on-campus orchestra (approximately 60 musicians) round out campus life.
