What it costs
As a public university in Baden-Württemberg, Offenburg University charges non-EU/EEA international students a tuition fee of €1,500 per semester (the Baden-Württemberg non-EU fee introduced in WS 2017/18). EU/EEA students are generally tuition-free for a first degree. All students pay a semester service contribution of approximately €150 per semester. EU students enrolling in a second master's degree pay €650 per semester.
Admission requirements
International degree-seeking students must hold a qualification recognised for university entry in Germany (check anabin status of their institution). For master's admission, a relevant bachelor's degree is required; individual programme pages specify subject-specific prerequisites. Language requirements: German-taught programmes require a minimum of B1 German; English-taught programmes require a minimum of B2 in the language of instruction. Indian, Chinese (mainland/HK/Macau), and Vietnamese applicants who completed their prior qualification in those countries must obtain an APS certificate before applying. Applications for degree-seeking students are submitted via uni-assist or directly through the university portal depending on the programme.
Application deadlines
Winter semester 2026/27: application window opens 1 April 2026, deadline 1 May 2026. Summer semester 2027: application window opens 1 October 2026, deadline 1 November 2026. Processing time is approximately four weeks after submission. Deadlines for degree-seeking vs. exchange students may differ; confirm on the university's international pages at time of application.
How international applicants apply
Dual: uni-assist VPD possible, plus a free Studienkolleg Konstanz route. Offenburg University of Applied Sciences appears on uni-assist's official member list, where its entry instructs applicants that uni-assist issues a Vorpruefungsdokumentation (VPD) which must then be submitted with the application directly to the university. However, Offenburg's own admission pages currently document a different first step for applicants without German qualifications: all foreign-certificate applicants must have documents reviewed by the Studienkolleg Konstanz (STK), which issues the eligibility certificate needed to apply in Offenburg's own applicant portal (or via hochschulstart for NC bachelor programmes). Applicants should treat STK Konstanz as the route described by the university itself and the uni-assist VPD as the alternative documented on the official uni-assist listing.
Languages of instruction
Most bachelor's programmes are taught in German. A broad selection of master's programmes - including Communication and Media Engineering, Enterprise and IT Security, International Business Consulting, Renewable Energy and Data Engineering, Sustainable Business Development, Mechatronics and Robotics, and several others - are taught in English. German-language programmes require at least B1 proficiency; English-taught programmes require at least B2. The university offers German language courses at A1-C1 levels during the semester and a four-week intensive course each September before the winter semester.
Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.

Living in Offenburg
Offenburg is a mid-sized city of roughly 63,000 inhabitants in the Upper Rhine Plain, Baden-Württemberg, close to the Black Forest and the French border (Alsace is a 20-minute drive). It sits on the Europapark-Ortenau region's rail corridor, giving students easy access to Freiburg (~30 min), Karlsruhe (~40 min), and Strasbourg (~40 min). The city has a compact, walkable centre, affordable rents compared to Stuttgart or Munich, and strong local industry in mechanical engineering, packaging technology, and software.

The university's International Center assists incoming students with accommodation before arrival, offering furnished dormitory rooms in Offenburg at approximately €290-€370 per month, and helps find private housing in both Offenburg and Gengenbach (approximately €350-€480 per month). A Buddy Programme pairs new international students with senior students for peer support. Monthly 'World Café' gatherings, cultural excursions to the Black Forest, Alsace, and Switzerland, and a 'Senior Service' connecting students with local residents are organised throughout the year. Dedicated orientation days and a master's-student retreat are held at the start of each semester. The university's German language programme spans A1-C1 with a four-week intensive course in September.
