About Hochschule Kaiserslautern (University of Applied Sciences)

Hochschule Kaiserslautern (University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern) is a practice-oriented public Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, with over 160 years of tradition in engineering education. It enrolls approximately 6,200 students across three campuses in Kaiserslautern, Pirmasens, and Zweibrücken, and offers over 50 degree programmes spanning technology, economics, design, health, and computer science.

The university is system-accredited and structured around five faculties: Applied Engineering (AING), Applied Logistics and Polymer Sciences (ALP), Building and Design (BG), Business Administration (BW), and Computer Sciences and Microsystems Technology (IMST). Research is organised under four applied focus areas: Integrated Miniaturised Systems, Sustainable Materials Products and Processes, Interaction Technology Empirical Research and Application, and Highly Efficient Technical Systems.

International students are supported by a dedicated International Office with presence at all three campuses, an on-site Internationales Studienkolleg (ISK) for foundation-year preparation, and a range of German language courses from A1 to B2. The university applies for admission via uni-assist and does not charge tuition fees, as Rhineland-Palatinate is a tuition-free federal state for all students regardless of nationality.
