What it costs
As a public university in Baden-Württemberg, Reutlingen University charges no tuition fees for EU/EEA students beyond the semester contribution. Non-EU international students are required to pay an additional tuition fee of €1,500 per semester under the Baden-Württemberg non-EU tuition regulation, in addition to the semester contribution. The semester contribution is €199.30 per semester (comprising €104.80 student services, €80.00 administrative costs, €14.50 student government). Exemptions from the non-EU fee apply to certain exchange students and those with specific residency status.
Admission requirements
International applicants must hold a university entrance qualification recognised in Germany (check anabin status of their institution). For bachelor's programmes, Indian applicants with Class XII ≥70% may be eligible for direct admission or via Studienkolleg depending on subject area and anabin status of their school; the APS certificate is mandatory for applicants from India, China, and Vietnam before applying. German-taught programmes require proof of German language proficiency (typically B2/C1 level: TestDaF, DSH, or Goethe certificate). English-taught master's programmes typically require an IELTS or TOEFL score; applicants should check individual programme pages for exact thresholds. Applications are submitted via the university's online portal (hisinone.reutlingen-university.de), with a limit of 3 simultaneous applications. Admission to Bachelor programmes requires Abitur, subject-related entrance qualification, Fachhochschulreife, a recognised vocational qualification (e.g. Meister - studying without Abitur is possible, incl. 2 years vocational training + 3 years work experience with eligibility test), foreign certificates, or equivalent. Master programmes require a completed undergraduate degree of at least 3 years; programmes may add subject-specific criteria. International applicants with foreign certificates need a Zeugnisanerkennung (validation of qualifications) from Studienkolleg Konstanz, submitted by the end of the application period. Exchange students apply via MoveON after nomination by their home university.
Application deadlines
Winter Semester (October start): 15 July (23:59). Direct enrollment for unrestricted programmes extended until 31 August. Summer Semester (April start): 15 January (23:59). Direct enrollment for unrestricted programmes extended until 28 February. Admission decisions are typically communicated approximately one week after the deadline.
How international applicants apply
No uni-assist. All applicants including internationals apply through the university's own online portal (Campus-PoRTal). Certificate recognition for international applicants runs through a 'Zeugnisanerkennung' by the Studienkolleg Konstanz instead: non-EU/EEA International Business applicants upload documents on the university portal and Reutlingen forwards them to Studienkolleg Konstanz; EU/EEA applicants apply there themselves. China/India/Vietnam applicants need an APS certificate. Reutlingen University is not listed among uni-assist member universities.
Languages of instruction
Most bachelor's programmes are taught in German. A growing number of master's programmes are offered fully or partially in English, including: Global Management and Digital Competencies (English only), Digital Industrial Management and Engineering (English only), Biomedical Sciences (English only), and several bilingual (German/English) master's programmes in fields such as Digital Business Engineering, Human-Centered Computing, Interdisciplinary Product Development, and International Accounting, Controlling and Taxation.
Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
