About Kassel International Management School
UNIKIMS - the Management School of the University of Kassel - is a specialised continuing-education institution focused exclusively on part-time, work-alongside master's programmes and certificate courses for professionals. Originally established in 1999 as KIMS (Kassel International Management School) on the initiative of local industry and the Kassel Chamber of Commerce, it was jointly relaunched with the University of Kassel in 2005 under the UNIKIMS brand.
The school offers nine master's degree programmes spanning general management (MBA), public administration (MPA), coaching and supervision (COS), industrial production management, public transport and mobility, education management, wind energy systems, and renewable energy and energy efficiency (REMENA). More than 1,200 working professionals enrol annually across its degree and certificate offerings. All programmes blend in-person weekend sessions with online learning via the eCampus platform.
Unlike a full-scale research university, UNIKIMS is purpose-built for postgraduate continuing education. It does not offer undergraduate (bachelor's) programmes. International applicants are primarily served by the English-taught REMENA master's, which includes study periods in Germany, Tunisia, and India and explicitly recruits across nationalities.

Admissions & fees
What it costs
UNIKIMS is a private continuing-education GmbH and charges programme fees - it is not subject to the public-university tuition-free framework. The REMENA programme costs €10,000 total (€2,500 per semester over 4 semesters), plus a University of Kassel semester contribution of approximately €390 per semester in Kassel (approx. €150-200/year at partner locations in Hyderabad or Monastir). An application fee of €75 applies via uni-assist. The MBA and other German-taught programmes are fee-bearing; exact costs are published per programme on unikims.de. Baden-Württemberg non-EU surcharge does not apply (Kassel is in Hesse).
Admission requirements
All programmes are postgraduate and require a completed bachelor's or Diplom degree. The MBA requires a degree of at least 6 semesters / 210 ECTS (min. 180 ECTS) plus at least one year of professional work experience. The REMENA programme requires a bachelor's in engineering, natural sciences, law, economics, or social sciences (min. 7 semesters) with a minimum grade of 'good' (2.5 on the German scale or equivalent), and English proficiency at B2 CEFR level (IELTS/TOEFL accepted; waived if prior studies were in English). Individual assessment applies for degrees outside these fields. APS certificate is required for applicants from India, China, and Vietnam as a standard German visa/admission prerequisite. Applications for international students in the REMENA programme are submitted through uni-assist.

REMENA: 15 July for September/winter intake; 15 January for March/summer intake (binding, via uni-assist). MBA and other programmes: consult individual programme pages on unikims.de; an online information event for the MBA was scheduled for 24 June 2026.

Living in the city
Kassel is a city of approximately 200,000 in the federal state of Hesse, central Germany, roughly equidistant between Frankfurt and Hanover. It is best known internationally as the home of the documenta contemporary art exhibition (held every five years) and the UNESCO World Heritage Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe. For students, the city offers an affordable cost of living relative to Frankfurt or Munich, a compact urban layout, and a large student population anchored by the University of Kassel (~23,000 students).
Student life & support
Because UNIKIMS programmes are designed for working professionals, most participants study part-time and are not full-time resident students in Kassel. In-person sessions are concentrated on weekends (approximately six weekends per year for the MBA). The REMENA programme has a more conventional full-time structure with residential phases in Kassel, Hyderabad (JNTUH), and Monastir (University of Monastir). The University of Kassel's Studierendenwerk provides housing, canteen, and social services for registered UNIKIMS students; the University's Welcome Centre supports international students with visa and registration queries.
