Medical School 11

Baden-Württemberg, Germany

About MS 11

Medical School 11 is a private healthcare-education initiative based in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, operating under the legal entity Medicus Education Heidelberg AG. It functions as a study centre for DIPLOMA Hochschule — a permanently state-recognised private university — delivering two bachelor-level programmes (Physician Assistant and Dental Hygiene) exclusively in Heidelberg.

The institution describes itself as the "we-project of the healthcare sector," focusing on the academicisation of health professions, digitisation, demographic change, and prevention. Teaching takes place in small learning groups led by experienced practitioners, combining theory and hands-on clinical practice. Both programmes are accredited by AHPGS (Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Health and Social Professions) and by the Akkreditierungsrat.

Medical School 11 is a specialist vocational-track institution and is not a general university. Applicants must already hold a recognised healthcare vocational qualification (e.g. ZFA for Dental Hygiene, nursing or MFA for Physician Assistant) before enrolling. International students should note this is a German-language institution; all programme information is published in German.

Admissions & costs

Tuition & fees

These programmes are privately funded and charge tuition. Dental Hygiene (4 semesters): €650/month (€15,600 total lump-sum equivalent €15,480.25; one-time exam fee €695). Physician Assistant (6 semesters): €550/month (€19,800 total lump-sum equivalent €18,775.25; one-time exam fee €665). Flexible instalment plans are available. Note: the tuition-free rule for public universities in Baden-Württemberg does NOT apply here — this is a private institution. Non-EU students are subject to the same private tuition rates as EU students.

Admission requirements

Both programmes require an existing vocational healthcare qualification plus one of: (a) general/technical Abitur, (b) a relevant master-craftsman or professional-advancement certificate, (c) 2+ years professional experience plus an entrance examination, or (d) secondary school diploma with a 3-year vocational qualification completed after 2011 (minimum 2.5 GPA). Dental Hygiene additionally requires a completed ZFA (dental nurse) apprenticeship. No APS certificate requirement applies as these are vocational-track bachelor programmes at a private institution (APS is mandatory for Indian/Chinese/Vietnamese applicants applying to standard German universities; applicants should verify with DIPLOMA Hochschule and the German consulate for their specific case). Language proficiency in German is effectively required as all programmes are German-taught, though no formal language test threshold is published on the official site.

Application deadlines

Applications are accepted year-round for both programmes. The academic year starts on 1 October (winter semester only); students enrol at the next available October start date after their application is processed.

Languages of instruction

German (all programmes taught in German; no English-taught programmes listed on the official site)

Living in Baden-Württemberg

Heidelberg is a historic university city in northern Baden-Württemberg on the Neckar River, home to Germany's oldest university (Ruprecht-Karls-Universität, founded 1386). With a population of approximately 160,000 it has a large student community, strong public transport links, and good connections to Frankfurt (1 hour) and Mannheim (15 minutes by train). The cost of living is moderate by German city standards, though slightly above the national average.

Student life & support

As a small specialist study centre rather than a campus university, Medical School 11 does not operate a traditional student union or campus facilities. Students are formally enrolled at DIPLOMA Hochschule and have access to that institution's online-campus resources, digital library, and student services. The Heidelberg location offers a vibrant broader student culture via Heidelberg University and nearby universities in Mannheim.
