For undergraduate admission, applicants must hold an officially recognised secondary school leaving certificate (e.g. Indian Class XII / CBSE / state board, German Abitur, IB Diploma, A-levels, or equivalent). No minimum percentage is published; the university reviews academic records individually. English proficiency is required: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 51, Duolingo 95, or Cambridge FCE Grade B at undergraduate level. For master's admission, an undergraduate degree (or recognised equivalent) is required; foreign degree holders must arrange a credential evaluation through AACRAO, AICE, or a NACES member. Graduate English thresholds are IELTS 6.0 (6.5 for MBA), TOEFL iBT 67, or Duolingo 105. The APS certificate (Akademische Prüfstelle) is not mentioned in SIU's own admissions documentation, however Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants applying for a German student visa are still subject to the APS requirement imposed by the German Embassy - applicants from these countries should obtain their APS certificate before applying for the visa regardless of SIU's internal admission requirements. The application is submitted online at apply.schiller.edu and involves a five-step process: online form, conditional offer letter, document submission, academic interview, and final offer. A non-refundable application fee applies.

No fixed deadlines: applications are reviewed on a rolling five-step process tied to campus intake dates. As a reference point, for the February 2026 intake deadlines ranged from October 2025 to January 2026 depending on the applicant's situation. Applicants needing a German student visa are advised to apply roughly three to four months before the programme start date.

Not used / direct American-style admission: five-step rolling process entirely through Schiller's own online application form with a dedicated Enrollment Advisor - (1) application form plus passport copy, (2) Conditional Offer Letter, (3) Unconditional Offer after official academic credentials, deposit payment and English certificate (TOEFL 51+/IELTS 5.5+ undergraduate, Duolingo 95+, etc.), (4) virtual academic interview, (5) admissions decision plus visa support letter. SIU is US-accredited (ACCSC) and does not participate in uni-assist.

All campus-based programmes at Heidelberg are taught entirely in English. No German-language programmes are offered. An English proficiency waiver is available for applicants whose prior schooling was conducted in English.
