Academic Qualifications
- SPO paragraph 5(1): admission requires that the applicant has paid all fees of the continuing-education programme and has submitted the application documents in full, AND either: holds the Approbation (licence to practise) in dentistry or medicine and has worked at least one year as a doctor or dentist after the Approbation and before admission to the programme; OR holds a higher-education degree in engineering or economics/business with relevance to dental technology and can demonstrate at least one year of professional experience.
- SPO paragraph 5(1), second sub-paragraph: under paragraph 31(2) LHG the programme is also open to applicants who acquired the necessary aptitude through their profession. This requires a qualified qualification in the field of dental technology or dental laboratory technology (Zahntechnik), plus several years of professional experience, evidence of continuing education, and documented participation in recognised projects in dental technology or particular experience in teaching. The Pruefungsausschuss decides on admission.
- Bewerbung und Anmeldung page (id=718): applicants with a completed degree apply directly using the Antrag auf Einschreibung. Applicants without a completed higher-education degree must additionally submit the Beiblatt fuer Berufsqualifizierte setting out qualifications and prior knowledge. The Pruefungsausschuss of the programme decides after individual assessment of the documents.

- Bewerbung und Anmeldung page (id=718), criteria the Pruefungsausschuss previously fixed for the professional access route (stated there for the Wintersemester 2018/2019 start, and stated to still apply unchanged for the Sommersemester 2021 start; the page publishes no later revision): passed Zahntechnikermeister examination (certificate) plus 3 years of professional experience after the Meisterpruefung and evidence of multi-day continuing education in the field of digital dental technology; OR Zahntechniker (not Meister) plus 6 years of professional experience after the final examination, of which 3 years with evidence of work at a university or at a continuing-education or research-and-development institution. Evidence of multi-day continuing education in digital dental technology, involvement in or ownership of patents, and leadership of or participation in R&D or teaching projects is generally advantageous.

- Programme page (id=704), target groups admitted: approbierte Zahnaerzte with one year of professional experience; university graduates in engineering or economics/business with relevance to dental technology and one year of professional experience; Berufsqualifizierte (professionally qualified applicants) as described above.
- Termine page (id=710): places are allocated in the order in which application documents are received. Minimum cohort size 10, maximum 15. SPO paragraph 5(6) adds that the programme only starts if a sufficient number of participants is reached, and that there is no entitlement to the programme running if too few qualified participants apply.
