Living in Berlin

Berlin is Germany's capital and largest city, with a population of approximately 3.7 million. It is a major hub for culture, technology, and social innovation, and offers one of the most affordable costs of living among Western European capitals. ASH Berlin's campus is in Hellersdorf (east Berlin), well connected to the city centre by the U5 metro line. The city has a large student population, a vibrant international community, and extensive public services relevant to students in social work, health, and education fields.

Student life & support

ASH Berlin is a compact, specialist institution with a strong sense of community. The student association (AStA) organises social and political activities. The semester ticket included in the semester contribution provides unlimited travel on all public transport in Germany for the semester period. On-campus childcare facilities support student parents. A Buddy Programme pairs incoming international exchange students with local students. The university has a Centre for Further Education, an Ethics Committee, and active student councils.
