Admissions & fees

What it costs

No tuition fees. Students serve as paid trainee civil servants of the Free State of Saxony during their three-year study rather than paying to enrol; graduation leads to appointment as a police commissar in probationary civil-service status.

Admission requirements

Restricted, employment-based admission: candidates must first apply to Polizei Sachsen as prospective police officers (career portal verdaechtig-gute-jobs.de), pass a multi-stage selection procedure testing physical and psychological resilience, teamwork, communication and responsibility, and are appointed as civil-servant trainees (Beamtenverhältnis auf Widerruf) - enrolment follows automatically from employment. General police entry prerequisites (health, fitness, conduct etc.) apply as published by Polizei Sachsen; direct enrolment of international applicants without German civil-service eligibility is not possible, and there is no international office. Questions are handled via [email protected]. Graduates are appointed Polizeikommissar/-in or Kriminalkommissar/-in (probationary civil servant status).

Application deadlines

None in the university sense: hiring rounds and selection dates of Polizei Sachsen govern entry, and applications run continuously through the police career portal. The academy holds an annual open day in mid-January (15 January 2026).

How international applicants apply

Not applicable - restricted police recruitment. The Hochschule der Saechsischen Polizei (FH) does not appear on the uni-assist member list and has no student application route: the bachelor programme Polizeivollzugsdienst is only accessible to people hired as police trainees (Beamtinnen/Beamte auf Widerruf) by Polizei Sachsen, with intake each 1 September after a multi-stage selection procedure (PC test, sport test, interview, police medical). Application runs continuously via the Polizei Sachsen online job portal (hrd-portal.de/polizei-sachsen/jobboard), not via any university portal. Official Einstellungsvoraussetzungen require German, EU, or Norwegian/Liechtenstein/Swiss citizenship, commitment to the free democratic basic order, and German language skills at grade-10 Oberschule level among other criteria. No uni-assist, no VPD; internationals without one of those citizenships cannot be appointed and thus cannot study there.

Languages of instruction

German throughout: instruction, examinations and the single degree programme are German-only. There are no English-taught programmes and the academy does not recruit internationally.
