Tuition & fees
As a Baden-Württemberg state university, TH Mannheim charges non-EU/EEA international students a tuition fee of €1,500 per semester (introduced from WS 2017/18), in addition to the general semester contribution. The semester contribution for Summer Semester 2026 is €194.60 (comprising €100.00 student services, €14.60 student council, €80.00 administrative costs). Exemptions from the non-EU tuition fee apply to holders of German university entrance qualifications, recognised refugees, exchange/Erasmus students, and dual-degree programme participants.
Admission requirements
International applicants with foreign qualifications must first have their credentials assessed through Studienkolleg HTWG Konstanz before applying via the university's campus management portal. German language proficiency is required for most programmes: DSH-2, TestDaF with TDN 4 in all four sections, or telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule are accepted. Applicants from India, China, and Vietnam must present an original APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) certificate as part of their application. Non-EU applicants must also demonstrate financial capacity to cover living costs (required for the student visa / blocked account). Applicants holding German secondary qualifications (Bildungsinländer) apply via hochschulstart.de.

Winter Semester: restricted programmes 15 May – 15 July; unrestricted programmes 15 May – 20 September; higher semesters 15 May – 13 September. Summer Semester: restricted programmes 15 November – 15 January; unrestricted programmes 15 November – 15 March. Mannheim is a mid-sized city of around 310,000 inhabitants in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region in Baden-Württemberg, at the confluence of the Rhine and Neckar rivers. The city is well-connected by rail (direct ICE links to Frankfurt, Stuttgart, and Paris) and sits within easy reach of Heidelberg (20 min) and Frankfurt (40 min).
