Tomorrow University of Applied Sciences (ToU) is a state-recognised private University of Applied Sciences in Hessen, Germany, founded in 2020 by Christian Rebernik and Dr. Thomas Funke. It received official recognition from the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and the Arts in September 2022, making it the first EdTech startup in Germany to gain university status. The institution is legally registered as a non-profit gGmbH (gemeinnützige GmbH).

ToU operates entirely online — there is no traditional physical campus. Its programmes focus on sustainability, AI, entrepreneurship, and applied psychology, using challenge-based and project-oriented learning rather than conventional exams. Students collaborate on real-world challenges with industry partners; the university reports that over 90 nationalities are represented in its learner community and that 95% of students study while in full-time employment.

Programme offerings span Bachelor's (B.Sc. in AI & Sustainable Technologies; B.A. in Responsible Entrepreneurship & Management), Master's (M.Sc. in Sustainability, Innovation & Technology; M.A. in Applied Psychology), and MBA levels (Impact MBA; Global Impact Executive MBA). All programmes are accredited by the German Akkreditierungsrat and the institution is listed on hochschulkompass.de. Programmes are taught in English and German.

Admissions & costs

Tuition & fees

Tomorrow University is a private institution and charges tuition for all programmes. There is no tuition-free option. Bachelor's programmes: from €15,500 (full upfront) to €17,500 total on a monthly plan (approx. €486/month). Regional Price Grants of up to €8,000 are applied automatically based on country of residence. Scholarships of up to €1,500 are available. Master's programmes (90 ECTS): from €15,500 (full upfront) to €17,000 total monthly (approx. €944/month). Master's (120 ECTS): from €18,500 (full upfront) to €20,000 total monthly. The university also offers Income Sharing Agreements for residents of Germany and Spain. Students enrolled in Germany are BAföG-eligible (up to €934/month from the state). There is no separate non-EU surcharge listed; the Regional Price Grant system adjusts pricing by country of residence.

Admission requirements

All applicants must hold a recognised secondary school leaving certificate (for Bachelor's) or a recognised Bachelor's degree (for Master's). For Bachelor's admission, non-German certificates are verified via a ministry check or entrance exam; German Abitur and Fachhochschulreife are verified in-house. English proficiency at B2 (CEFR) is required; official certificates are preferred but not mandatory, and the requirement may be waived for native English speakers or graduates of English-medium programmes. A mandatory 30-minute admission interview with the Programme Director is part of every application. For Master's programmes, applicants need a Bachelor's degree with at least 210 ECTS (for the 90 ECTS Master track) or 180 ECTS (for the 120 ECTS track), completed over a minimum of six semesters. Degrees without a completed university qualification are not accepted regardless of professional experience. English B2 is required. Applicants without a completed degree cannot be admitted. APS certificate: Tomorrow University is a private, fully online institution. Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants should check with the APS office and the university directly regarding APS requirements for admission and visa purposes, as APS rules apply to the German student visa process for these nationalities regardless of institution type.

Tomorrow University holds its registered seat in Frankfurt am Main, one of Germany's major financial and transport hubs, and operates an office in Berlin. As a fully online institution, students study from any location worldwide and are not required to relocate to Germany. Frankfurt is home to the European Central Bank, a major international airport, and a diverse international community, while Berlin is Germany's capital and a leading startup and technology hub.
