Living in Darmstadt

Darmstadt is a city of around 160,000 in southern Hesse, roughly 30 km south of Frankfurt am Main. It is known as a 'City of Science' (Wissenschaftsstadt), home to multiple universities and research institutes including the Technical University of Darmstadt, h_da, and the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC). The city combines a compact historic centre with well-connected public transport links to Frankfurt, making it a practical and affordable base for students.

Student life & support

EHH Darmstadt offers a personal campus atmosphere with small seminar groups. The AStA (student union) organises social and cultural events. Psychotherapeutic counselling is available free of charge to enrolled students, funded by the Carls Foundation. The university actively supports students studying with children and holds a family-friendly certification. The ERASMUS+ network provides outgoing mobility options to 46 partner universities across Europe and beyond.
