About Technische Hochschule Deggendorf
Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT), known in German as Technische Hochschule Deggendorf (THD), is a public university of applied sciences in Lower Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1994, it is a practice-oriented institution focused on applied research and close cooperation with industry, with teaching concentrated in engineering, computer science and artificial intelligence, applied economics, health sciences, natural sciences and tourism.
DIT is one of the most international universities of applied sciences in Bavaria, with students from over 100 countries. It operates a network of regional technology and research campuses in addition to its main campus, and in 2023 it was granted independent doctoral rights — a notable status for a university of applied sciences in Germany.
The university runs a substantial portfolio of English-taught degree programmes, including a fully English-medium campus (the European Campus Rottal-Inn in Pfarrkirchen), making it accessible to international students who do not yet hold advanced German qualifications.

Tuition & fees
There are no conventional tuition fees for degree programmes. However, from the winter semester 2025/26 a service fee of €500 per semester applies to non-EU/EEA ("third-country") students, plus a one-time €60 application fee. EU/EEA citizens, students enrolled before April 2023, recognised refugees, exchange and doctoral students, and documented hardship cases are exempt from the €500 fee. A separate semester contribution to the student union (Studierendenwerk) also applies.
Admission requirements
International applicants need a recognised university entrance qualification; eligibility is country-specific (check the DAAD admission database and anabin). Where a qualification does not directly qualify, options include one year of university study in the home country or attending a Studienkolleg in Germany. Language requirements vary by programme and campus. An APS certificate is required for applicants from India, China and Vietnam.

Bachelor — Winter semester (October start): 15 April – 15 July. Bachelor — Summer semester (March start): 1 October – 15 January. Master deadlines vary by programme — check the individual programme page.
