Living in Deggendorf

Deggendorf is a small city in Lower Bavaria on the River Danube, at the edge of the Bavarian Forest and within reach of the Alps and the Austrian border. With a population of roughly 40,000 it has a compact, safe, student-friendly feel, and the university is a major part of local life. The region offers extensive cycling routes, river trips and easy access to nature, while Munich and the wider Bavarian rail network are reachable by train.

Student life & support

A Welcome Centre and International Office support prospective and enrolled international students with online consultations, exchange-programme coordination and graduate career support. Student accommodation is run by the regional Studierendenwerk Niederbayern/Oberpfalz, which operates halls of residence in Deggendorf. Intensive German language courses and onboarding services are also provided.
