Main Campus Flensburg

Kanzleistraße 91-93, 24943 Flensburg; shared with Europa-Universität Flensburg

Living in Flensburg

Flensburg is a harbour city of approximately 90,000 inhabitants on the German-Danish border in Schleswig-Holstein. It offers an affordable cost of living with rents below the German average and accommodation that is easier to find than in larger university cities. The city has a distinctive maritime character with a historic inner harbour, sailing and water-sports opportunities, and a cross-border cultural identity shaped by German and Danish heritage.

Student life & support

The university runs orientation weeks (TOPWochen) at the start of each semester to help new students settle in. Student life includes campus cinema, parties, and the annual Kohl and Pinkel tour. Hochschule Flensburg participates in the DAAD-FIT programme, which provides international students with advisory support, coaching, and help finding internships and jobs. The International Office organises additional events and support for incoming students. Accommodation is available through the Studentenwerk and is generally accessible compared to larger German cities.
