What it costs

As a public university in Baden-Württemberg, PH Weingarten charges no programme tuition for EU/EEA students. Under Baden-Württemberg's non-EU tuition policy, non-EU international students are subject to a fee of €1,500 per semester (introduced from winter semester 2017/18). All students additionally pay a semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) covering student services and public transport; the exact current amount was not published on the pages reviewed - contact the Studierenden Service Zentrum at +49 751 501-8220 for the current figure. Estimated monthly living costs in Weingarten are approximately €750-€800 according to the university's own guidance for incoming students.

Admission requirements

Degree-seeking international applicants must hold a recognised university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) equivalent to the German Abitur. Applications are submitted through the university's eCampus portal. Exchange students (incoming) require nomination by a partner institution and must apply through the Mobility Online portal with a CV, motivation letter (in German or English), transcript, proof of enrolment at the home university, and a language certificate (German or English). Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese applicants who previously studied in those countries and are applying for a degree programme typically require an APS certificate before the German student visa can be issued. German language proficiency is the standard expectation for most programmes; the International Office offers an introductory German language and culture course for incoming exchange students.

Application deadlines

For winter semester 2026/27: most bachelor's programmes open 15 May and close 15 September 2026 (Lehramt Grundschule and BA Logopädie close 15 July 2026). Most master's programmes open 15 May and close 15 September 2026 (MA Logopädie and MA Media & Educational Management close 15 July; MA Lehramt and MA Psychology close 31 May 2026). For summer semester 2027: MA Lehramt programmes accept applications 15-30 November 2026. Exchange/incoming students: housing applications to Seezeit student housing close 15 June (for summer semester) and 15 December (for winter semester).

How international applicants apply

uni-assist processing with dual submission: applications for Bachelor programmes and consecutive Master programmes with foreign education certificates are handled in cooperation with uni-assist - applicants must apply directly via the uni-assist online portal (where application and HZB are checked) AND additionally register in eCampus, the PH Weingarten application portal. Chinese applicants must additionally enclose the Akademische Pruefstelle (APS) Beijing certificate. Exchange students (semester abroad) are exempt and apply via Mobility Online nomination instead.

Languages of instruction

The primary language of instruction is German. One dedicated English-medium exchange programme is available: the 'Global Classroom in Teacher Education', a semester-long programme covering international and intercultural education, intercultural teaching practice, subject-specific didactics, and an introduction to German language and culture. Incoming exchange students may also submit their motivation letter in English. No degree programmes taught fully in English are listed for degree-seeking students outside the Global Classroom exchange track.

Entry requirements, intake dates and language levels differ for every degree.
